28 April 2010 (Wed) - Blessed

4.5 months into my pregnancy.. I survived the first 18 weeks and another 20 weeks to go… wonder how my child will look like.. will he take after me or Melvin? Kind of hoping that he will look like Melvin.. be also kind and hardworking like him.. but inherit my good points too.. yeah, I have positive traits lah.. don’t be so shock ok…

I remember clearly the day I found out that I am pregnant.. Melvin and I were shopping at Great World City.. my period was late.. like a week or so has passed and I was getting a little paranoid and jittery.. my desire to have a bb for the longest time.. ever since I was young, a complete family will consist of having children too.. but having repeatedly tried and failed for almost a year has done much damage to my faith in myself.. just when I was pondering if I should (again) waste my money on a test kit.. Melvin encouraged me to just test it to ease my mind.. you must be thinking why I was behaving so “po po mah mah” over such a simple decision right.. the truth is that I was disappointed so many times after false alarms and I believed that doing the test sort of jinxed everything.. Still, I took his advice and did a quick test.. yes, in a public toilet.. when the result was out, my tears simply flowed.. I couldn’t believe that I am seeing a ‘+’ sign.. it had been ‘-‘ sign for the past tests and I have sort of gotten used to the letdowns..

So you can’t imagine my joy.. the happiness that I am able to conceive like any other women.. it may not mean much to you.. but once you kana relentless questions from all the kaypoh relatives and friends, you will be able understand my relief..

I wanted a little girl always.. however since day 1 I felt that I am going to have a boy.. they say that it’s the mother instinct thingy.. my mum hoping for a boy as she thinks that it is really good to have a boy in the year of tiger and I guess that was what I wanted too.. to my delight, on my 4th month and with my bb’s cooperation, we could see him declaring his gender to us proudly and clearly. For those who never wanted children of their own, I would like to share that the happiest moment in my life to date was to see my bb moving and stretching his arms and legs during my ultrasound.. knowing that I am pregnant is one thing but seeing the fetus moving and kicking is another amazing moment..

Pardon my complaints on morning sickness and discomforts that come along with the pregnancy.. it still sucks big time to be throwing up in car and in the office… the clothes don’t fit anymore and hormones are causing zits and hot flashes.. but I still feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to experience motherhood.. and if You can hear me out there, pls keep us safe for the rest of this journey.. a healthy child is a mother’s only wish.

26 April 2010 (Mon) - Pictures

Here's some pictures taken last week.. mainly taken over the weekend..

While searching for Rochor beancurd outlet along Hougang St 21, Melvin and I came across this kopitam that sells delicious street food.. it was packed at 7.30pm and we tried the hokkien mee, oysters omelette and chix wings.. The hokkien mee was quite good but I still prefer the one at ABC market.. oysters omelette was very good as it was crispy and the taste was 5/5! I didn't try the chix wings but based on my observation and Melvin's review.. the chix wings was only so-so.. To me, the skin of the bbq wings should be thin and crisp, easy to tear off.. definitely not soft and chewy..

There was no fatty pork and squid in this version of hokkien mee which is totally fine with me since I don't take them.. but Melvin was slightly disappointed.

Here's another picture of BB Ethan... and Jes said that his hair was shaved off after that...

Mum has the cravings for the Hainanese Pork Chop at Salt & Peppers which is located in Tagore Ave for the longest time.. so we braved the heavy rain, terrible jam at CTE for dinner at Teacher's Corner on last Friday for these..

We had Curry fish head, Hainanese pork chop, Sambal sweet potato leaves, Fried Tofu, Deep-fried chix wings and shrimp roll...

It costed only S$76 for the dinner for 6pax... Too bad I wasn't feeling too well on that day... so didn't enjoy the food and company too much...

Had major craving on Sat for the same food so off we went to the same place for the Curry fish head, Hainanese pork chop and Sambal sweet potato leaves.. heehee.. see what pregnancy does to you... you can have the same food every day!

After a sumptuous dinner, we went to Far East Flora nearby to walk walk and came across these.. strawberries in pots!..

Twin strawberries...

Bought some carnations for $5 a bunch... always nice to have some plants and flowers around the house.

On Sunday... breakfast at Joo Chiat..

We had the most delicious wanton mee in Singapore.. Feifei wanton mee.. for $3 you get a small bowl of the handmade noodles with 2 wantons and a few slices of char siew.. but it's so good loh.. I have to had a bowl at least once a week!

The chilli is addictive but they don't give you soup with your dry mee... you have to finish your noodles and bring your bowl back for some soup... or you can do the same like me... just simply order a side dish of wanton soup..

Shall make an effort to take more pictures... bye for now!

22 Apr 2010 (Thu) - Grumpy

I don’t understand how some women can enjoy their pregnancies so much… definitely not the case for me. Ballooning body, fatigue, morning sickness that never goes away and zits from the hormonal change.. these aside, I get sinus and coughs.. allergies that I haven’t experience for a long time.

I am tired all the time and the greatest achievement of the day is to keep all my food down.

Oh boy.. I am grumpy Auntie Eileen…

15 April 2010 (Sat) - Tired but Happy

It never rains, it pours!

This saying is true loh.. after getting the Brunei customs to release my shipment just in time for the training.. and my trainer finally getting his visa to enter Singapore.. I thought I can enjoy my weekend in peace only to hear that 2 of my other trainers' flights have been cancelled due to the Iceland's volcano ash!! Argh!!!

So unlucky right?!

Now we have to postpone the trainings, reschedule the flights and accommodations, informed the clients/ delegates, speak with trainers.. over the weekend!

Despite this, I am still happy... because I went for my scan yesterday and my bb was cooperative... could see the gender of my bb... I am going to have........................................................................

a BOY!

A bb tiger!!!

15 Apr 2010 (Thu) - Upset

I feel super irritated today loh.. first a kuku trainer messed up his visa application by refusing to apply it himself.. I have been working on his application and following up with a team of travel/ visa agents for over a month.. only to be informed that his visa will not be approved/ processed unless he collects it in person at the consulate in another state.. which bring us back to my initial suggestion which is to go to the nearest consulate personally! Some ppl are just so stubborn ok! And what happens when things screwed up? They panic and ask me for solution!.. Like I am the god.. can magically produce a visa just like that! Such a waste of my time and $$ because on top of his flights to SG, I have to buy him a USD600 ticket to fly to the next state to collect his visa now!

As if this is not bad enough, I have got another situation in Brunei because the damn customs held my course materials since Tuesday for I-don’t-know-what reasons! Maybe they have got nothing better to do.. the items that I have sent are course files, certificates and brochures. Not food or anything expensive! Bo liao anot? Make me trace and chase like crazy before they finally released the shipment at the intervene of client who represents another government organization in Brunei.

Some of these trainers! Man, they behave like kids. I am so tired of being their nanny and listening to their whines and complaints!

To end it off, I hate rude clients too!

I hate the weather.. the air is so dense that I could cut through it with a knife. The sun is glaring and there is simply no breeze, and even the occasional rain is not providing any relief.

Pls let it… rain harder, rain stronger, rain heavier!

I have been watching movies related to Greek mythology recently.. Clash of the Titans and Percy Jackson (The lightning thief).. been wondering about the behaviors of the Olympian Gods.. why are they sneaking to earth to have affairs with mortals? Why did Athena turn Medusa into such a horrible creature? Was it because of jealousy or wrath?… Why are gods committing the same deadly sins as we humans do??

I am puzzled..

08 Apr 2010 (Thu) - Rum Tel

I love movies.. enough said.

But I have always found it tedious to convert my dvd movies to iphone mp4 format.. besides, I have watched these dvds before so definitely not interested to spend this kind of effort. And it’s even more time-consuming to download new movies online which may take up to several hours just for the download before spending more time in converting them to mp4. Which is why I spend more time on the games than watching movies with my iphone thses days.

Just the other day, a colleague introduced this amazing application to me and now I’m hooked!

This application that I am talking about is “Rum Tel” and most importantly it’s free. It has a wide collection of movies like.. (new) Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Percy Jackson, New Moon series.. (classic) Titanic, Matrix series, The Mask.. (foreign) Coco before Chanel, Pan Labyrinth, (action) James Bond series, Taking Phelam 123.. you can find romantic comedies, cartoons and many more! Excited?!

I am! I love horror movies based on ancient characters and happy to find “Dracula 2000” and “Dorian Gray” in Rum Tel’s library of movies last night!

The only down side of this application is that it take several hours to download the movies, which I found a good solution to it – download the movies using my home wifi at night (won’t use up my data plan) while charging up my phone. Have managed to load 4 movies successfully and watched “Ella Enchanted” and “Sherlock Holmes” while on the train in the past mornings.

Planning to watch Dracula tomorrow and hopefully it better be good!

Yawn.. I am back to work…

Didn’t manage to go for a picnic on Sunday as it was raining.. no.. was pouring heavily on Sunday morning. It is real refreshing to have dark rainy days once in awhile, except this kind of weather makes me lethargic to even move around the house. Was happy that Melvin spent a lot of time at home with me over the weekend.. appreciate him cooking braised chicken and stir-fried kung-po vegetables. The dishes tasted pretty good for a beginner… ah.. maybe a little less salt for the vege for the next time?

I know I should be discipline and driven during the week day, but can’t help feeling tired and really looking forward to 6pm. Yes, I am going to leave the office at 6pm sharp.

01 Apr 2010 (Thu) - Happy Good Friday!

Another long weekend! Yippy! I am elated, happy, OVERJOYED to have 3 days away from my work desk! Away from the piles of paperwork, endless flow of emails and last minutes in-house workshops.

Am going to do nothing except eat, sleep, watch plenty of TV and maybe have a picnic on Sunday!

No more shopping as I have enough of that and am also planning to buy something nice.. something expensive to reward myself later this year. Besides, I have gotten the wallet that I have been eyeing for a long time as a birthday gift… so yes, I feel contented for the time being. I am very determined to set some $$ aside while I’m pregnant.. hahah!

Went for my Oscar scan last week and am glad that the result was ok. Despite the never ending morning sickness, I feel blessed to be expecting and hope the rest of my pregnancy will be smooth for me. I want a healthy baby ___ (fill in the blank).. will probably know it’s going to be a boy or girl in a month’s time… so starting betting now!
