15 Aug 2011 (Mon) - Hungry Ghost Festival Dinner

2 weekends ago we were invited to attend the banquet dinner organised by the Thung Clan Association specially for the Hungry Ghost Festival. I looked forward to this yearly event where we gathered for a 10-course dinner at the very nostalgic Yan Palace restaurant.

The items that will be auctioned during the dinner...

The bottels of wine and liquor have gotten the highest bids this year..

Make a guess at which item will I be bidding for later that night!

And while for wait for dinner to start, we kept ourselves occupied with chatting and taking pictures...

The dinner finally started at 8.30pm.. we were famished! And because I were too hungry and plus Lucas was getting all cranky so I didn't take any pictures of the following dishes... Dinner ended around 11pm and we bid for this..

Gold plated "Ru Yi" for good luck in the coming year (we hope)!

And my uncle bid for the gold plated Dragon!

Yesterday we went to my uncle house for praying/ offerings to our ancestors because of the lunar 7mth thingy.. Took some pictures of the food offerings..

Home-cooked food is the best! But this might be the last praying that will be held at my uncle's home... why must change place???...

05 Aug 2011 (Fri) - Busy month ahead

I'm back! Not that I have gone anywhere other than shopping alot in the past weeks.

Brought little Lucas to a play gym about 2 weeks ago and he absolutely likes it very much. I didn't sign him up for gym class but just paid a one-time fee for him to use the facilities.. He sooooo very enjoyed the space and the toys.. and was crawling around at amazing speed!

I'm beginning to enjoy my time with Lucas more these days. He is very responsive and wants to play all the time. He has been such a happy baby (since birth) but has grown to be even more smiley and playful recently!

There is NO stopping him loh - he was playing with the nurses/ doctor when I brought him with me for a body checkup. Was even smiling to strangers in the lifts! It is good to know that he is so sociable in character and I hope he stays this way.

So it is August already and this month is going to be a little more interesting for me..

We went for banquet dinner at Yan Palace last Sat. It was organized by the Thung Clan Association to celebrate the Hungry Ghost Festival. As usual, we bid for an item to support the Thung Clan/ offerings to "brothers & sisters" out this month. This year we got a lucky "Ru Yi" gold-plated display.. hopefully, it will bring us lots of luck in the coming year! I took pictures of the dinner and will post them up as soon as I can make time.

And we will also be going to my uncle house this coming Sunday (14 Aug) for the praying to ancestors (for the 7th month).. so expect yummy home-cooked food! Love such gatherings!

Followed by another gathering at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel on the 20 Aug with my uncles, aunties and cousins from my paternal side. We haven't been in contact much with them over the past 10 years.. Blame the "Red Fox" for it!

After all the gatherings, it will be time for us to install window grills at home. Lucas is super active and already climbing up and down my bed, sofa and coffee table at 10 months old. So no choice.. have to install the grills and there is going to be so much dust from the installation!

And in between, I will have to plan the birthday party for Lucas.. am thinking of holding it at a chalet as I don't want to clean the house for the party.. only to have to clean it again after the party. See how it goes...

For now, I am going to end the post with X-rated pictures of Lucas taken at his bathe time about a month ago:
