30 Oct 2009 (Fri) - Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN.....

Gotten some really bad news yesterday.. hmm....

Don't know how to deal with it... should I do something about it? Or should I just accept it?

Life isn't so fair afterall.. others can have it so easily... but yet it can so difficult for me...

Screw life.

Screw fate.

Screw destiny.

27 Oct 2009 (Tue) - Crime Watch

Did you watch the Crime Watch on Ch 5 last Sunday?

I happen to like watching Crime Watch alot and am always look forward to the quarterly episodes… I remembered the last Crime Watch that I have watched, they reenacted the process on how they solved and eventually caught an Indian serial rapist…

Well, the main crime story on last Sunday episode was about a series of hoax emails sent by a very ‘bo liao’ person to several international airlines… claiming that there were bombs on certain flight routes… these threats caused a huge panic and airport security was sent to investigate the plane/ passengers on each occasion… and so this ‘bo liao’ person, obviously enjoying the panic that he was causing… continued with his pranks…

The airlines reported to authorities and the cases were passed to FBI to investigate… they traced the IP addresses which were used to send these emails… and this led them to Singapore… (I am not surprised as there are really a lot of ‘bo liao’ people in Singapore)..

Going back to the story… our ‘capable’ police tracked the IP addresses to several internet cafés… but as it isn’t mandatory for users to register their particulars to rent a computer/ use the internet… the police basically has nothing much to work with… but they did get the tapes from the video cameras located with the buildings to narrow down on suspects entering the internet cafes…

And so they watched and watched the tapes… got a suspect… but no name to link them to the face. I am guessing that Mr. Bo Liao would never in his dreams guess that our police has got more time than him… cause they analysed the entrance/ exit that the suspect used and deduce that he travels by MRT… and they watched somemore tapes gotten from video cameras in MRT stations… and FINALLY… saw him using an ATM located within the station.

They approached the bank, got an ID…. Mr. Bo Liao got 5 years for being so stupid.

Who would still play such idiotic pranks these days? Really backside itchy…

Anyway.. the POINT is…

Video Cameras = Bye bye to privacy

OR

Video Cameras = Crime prevention

You tell me….

20 Oct 2009 (Tue) - Happy

First blog entry from my new laptop... I am happy :-)

20 Oct 2009 (Tue) - Updates

After months and months of tolerating that useless piece of junk... I finally gave up on my antique laptop yesterday... imagine 20min of waiting time just to boot up and to run IE.... not to mention that equally useless piece of D-link wireless toggle... the connectivity of the hardware is so poor that I cannot afford to move the laptop even a little or my internet access will get disconnected.... pui.

I spent almost 2 hours last night just to watch a 45min drama episode...

So I got fed-up and went with my colleagues to buy myself a new lappy! Nothing fancy... but it's good enough for an IT retard like me... my colleagues had to check out the specifications for me (cause I am a retard when it comes to electronic gadgets)... and they joked that I should downgrade the RAM as I may not get use to the new speed... so sarcastic hor?

On separate note... I am looking for an Operations Executive to help me run workshops... pls write to me at eileen.wong@terrapinn.com for more info if you or someone you know is interested.

Sharing pictures of my Auckland cousins... I simply love the colours of the pictures!... the sky is so blue!

16 Oct 2009 (Fri) - Sickening Fakes

To all the Fake & Phonies out there…

Pls tell me…

How do you sleep in peace at night knowing that all your lies may be well exposed on the very next day?

How do you bear to look at yourself in the mirror knowing that your life is nothing but just one big fat lie?

14 Oct 2009 (Wed) - Mad Busy

Argh!!!! I have so much work to do!

HELP!

11 Oct 2009 (Sun) - Another fresh new week

I woke up early again today... I did manage to sleep better last night. Things will improve... bad memories will be forgotten... however, we mustn't forget the lessons that we learnt from the awful.. awful incident.

Young, reckless, rebellious, irresponsible... we have all been through that stage in life haven't we?

It's all about how we should grow from there on...

I remembered that all I wanted to do when I was younger was to eat, drink and be merry all day long.... life experiences and my guardian angel (mommy dearest) have taught me that there is basically no shortcuts in life. Yes... sometimes we get lucky... but most of the times, the best is to work hard and walk with both feet firmly grounded.

No one likes to be nagged/ preached at... but we all have got to sit down and really listen when the needs arise.

I worry about the work that I have to handle in this new week... managed to convince myself to calm down and take one step at the time...

Ok, enough of the emo stuff...

Some good things did happen last week though...

Melvin has got a big fat increment! Yippy! At least one of us is moving up... I always welcome the extra moolah! To celebrate, we went to the romantic Jim Thompson! My second time there and I am still impressed by the service and ambience.

I have been losing at the weekly "chor da di" games... but I won last night! Hahaha! A total of $16... with compliments from my baby sister! Next week you might get the chance to recoup your losses, baby! But again, I might win! Hohohooo!

That's all for today... going to have my breakfast and off to the malls!

Enjoy your SUNDAY!

10 Oct 2009 (Sat) - Disappointment

I expected the past few days to be hectic... afterall, we are kicking start a new Telecoms workshop... the size of the class is bigger than usual... and the trainer is real fussy. I am wore out from the organising of this course but prepared to work overtime... waking up early to go to the hotel... ending my days late to bring the trainer out.. But what I didn't prepare myself for was the very bad, very shocking event that unfolded on Thu.

I wasn't ready for this kind of major disappointment.

I felt that I was being let down more than anything.

I couldn't sleep well. The scenes on Thu just couldn't stop replaying in my mind everytime I close my eye... and won't stop till I dragged myself out from my bed.

I couldn't stay angry... but stayed sad as this person has been very close to my heart.

I do not know if the person knew the impact of his/ her actions. Was it a moment of folly for him/ her? Just want you to know that you totally left the people who cared for you truly heartbroken.

I am so sad but life still goes on.. While I remind myself yet again that we are all responsible for our own actions.... I hope with time, both you and I can move on to be a better person.

*And if you are reading this - pls still call me if you need someone to talk to.

**And NO, the person I am talking about is not Melvin just in case you think that he cheated on me.

06 Oct 2009 (Tue) - Harvey Norman

Just the other day, it was proven yet again that service quality is one of the main attributes that your customer is looking for when it comes to a purchase.

As a firm believer of quality service, here I am sharing with you my encounter….

The story goes... I have been thinking of buying an iPod Docking Station cum Radio for some time as it gets awfully quiet when I am home alone. After weeks of research and finally smashing my piggybank, I decided to go get one on last Sunday. So off we went to the Best Denki at Parkway Parade, after going through a last round of shortlisting, we settled on this… (pls see below for super-chio and ultra-sleek Panasonic 4-in-1 iPod/ Radio/ CD/ USB player)

A stick thin salesman approached us then and we explained that we want a new unit and he said to me while pointing to the display unit “This is a new piece”. ????.... Pls tell me how can a display unit be considered new? Especially when people have been testing the sound system, plugging in/ out their iPods… not to mention it has been sitting in the shop collecting dust for at least quite some time already.

We insisted on a new piece so off he went to check in his inventory… a few minutes later, one of the other salesmen (ugly one) came by to inform us “No more stock left and it’s the same for all the agents!” He didn’t even bother to stop while delivering his message. Nor did he offer to put us on waiting list or take the time to recommend us another model. He seems to be in a hurry… although I cannot see what’s the rush as there were only a few patrons hanging around their pathetic outlet… with the intention on watching the free “Fantastic 4” movie that they were playing at their TV section.

Since they are obviously too proud to serve us, we went opposite to the Harvey Norman. And boy, am I impressed by their service!

They too have no more new unit of the model that we want.. but the 2 salesman serving us was kind to help us check stocks using their system. And when they found new pieces in Suntec, they asked us to wait while they call their counterpart to double confirm stock. Totally fabulous service! Not only did they never insist us to make payment at the Parkway branch, they even go the extra mile to reserve a unit for us and told us who we can look for when we reach the Suntec branch. Talk about excellent customer service!

To complete the experience, they even gave us a discount when we ask if there is any promotion.. what more can we ask for?

I am so going to write them an email complimenting them on their outstanding service!

05 Oct 2009 (Mon) - Auckland Trio
