It sounds really outdated to still be doing new year resolutions at this time, in this era... I mean I don't usually get all sentimental, looking back at the time that has passed and having ambitious resolutions for the new year... but it has been a rather different year.. with me being pregnant and having Lucas... and away from work for 17 weeks and counting... motherhood sorts of give you a new perspective on things... what is most important then may not be at the top of your priority list now....
It's no longer just me.. me and me now...
Why not start making some backup plans to safeguard myself and my child? Which bring me to my first new year resolution:
1) Start Saving!! Be it for rainy days... early retirement... I think the important thing for a mum to give her child is security.. $$ = security (to certain extent)??? No? Have learned that to 'spend less and save more' is no longer good enough... must have clear indicator on how much 'more' to save specifically... heehee... see I'm seriously SERIOUS about saving... Objective is to save.. the Strategies?.. Buy what I need and not what I want.. but abit difficult.. because my heart has a way of convincing my mind that I simply need almost everything that I lay my eyes on.. like that newly launched lip colour... or that pair of shoes that fit me so perfectly until I have to get one pair each in the different colours available. Yes, it's that absurd.. it is a tough resolution to have.. but I will push myself to reach my aim... tiny steps towards my first S$___ in my piggy bank? Haha!
2) Stand up for myself!! Say NO!! Yes, some people are just plain bullies.. they absolutely love to push their views on me... even after I had politely say no. These people can't take no for an answer and they 'think' that they can run my life because they are older or wiser or both... pls lah... give me a break. same goes for those kaypohs at my workplace... pls too, give me a break. I shall learn to decline/ refuse/ reject/ turn down! Geez... look what age has turned me into... a mellowed "YES" person with no personality that bullies love to bully. Yucks.
3) Count my blessings! I remembered on the 3rd day after I have delivered Lucas, the doctor came to told me that my bb has G6PD deficiency. There wasn't any major concerns over his condition except we have to monitor his jaundice level then and he has to avoid certain medications. Still, I was worried like mad as I can't bear to leave him in the hospital while I get discharged. At this point, a nun from the hospital came to visit me and I shared with her my worries.. and right before she left my room, she said "God will bless you" and I replied her that "God has already blessed me". Yes, despite the hurdles & obstacles that I have encountered, I know deep down that I am indeed blessed to own what I have... and I shall constantly remind myself to count my blessings.. especially on those dark days when things are tough...
There! My 3 resolutions for the new year! Took me almost half a day to complete this post as Lucas kept interrupting me by wanting to be fed and me to play with him. It could be a longer list but I aborted some overly ambitious resolutions from my list as I know I will never go about doing them... such as exercise!
And before I go, here is a recent picture taken with my cousin Lydias at Marina Square...
28 Dec 2010 (Tue) - Merry X'mas & a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas everyone! And may the new year be a joyous one for you and your family!
Now... All I want for X'mas is.....
Now... All I want for X'mas is.....
Yes yes yes! Royce Chocolates I like! Had passed by Royce outlet at Takashimaya for a couple of times but just can't bear to fork out S$15 for a small pack of chocolates.. so I was especially happy to get this from Sally on X'mas.. just as though she can read my thoughts!! Yippy yippy yum yum.. I am not going to share!
So it is no secret that I love bags... but like most girls, I find it a hassle to transfer my stuff from one bag to another. Thus, I was elated when my bro bought me this, a purse organiser.. it's the perfect gift lah!
It has many compartments (of different sizes) to fit my phone, wallet, tissues, sweets, keys, cards and other misc stuff.. so all I need is just to move the purse organiser when I change bags... The only down side is that it is only suitable for bigger handbags.. if you are carrying a smaller bag, I'm afraid the purse organiser won't fit in it... but again, you won't need an organiser if you are carrying a small bag right... here I go, contradicting myself again...
And on X'mas day, Melvin invited his friends over.. here are some pictures taken on that day...
Melvin bought these chips from the canteen at his work place.. I only know that these chips are made from "chi ku" (hokkien name of the veg) and they are real nice to munch on... each tub costed S$10 and he bought a total of 5 tubs... so it was chi ku madness for us! SUPER ADDICTIVE!
Pretty granny with her cute grandson... awww...
Our X'mas tree turned 3 years old! Maybe we should retire it and get a real living tree next year!
Thin-crusted pizzas from a shop in Grand World City... what do you call a shop that sells pizzas? Bakery? I just goggled and seems that Pizzeria is then the accurate word to describe the place that makes and sells pizza.
Desmond got a present for baby Lucas...
And Melvin made pasta for us and his friends... sauce made from scratch and the ingredients were so fresh!
I am going to the zoo tomorrow with my bro and my T.R.I.N.I.T.Y friends... (secret code).. wait for the pictures!
14 Dec 2010 (Tue) - Around and Alive!
Just in case, you are wondering on the lack of entry... no, I am still around and alive lah... just busy with (what else?) taking care of bb Lucas loh...
He is good on some days... but alittle bit more difficult on others. Example: on a good day, he will finish his milk quicker.. nap a little longer.. or wake up less often at nights...
I have began leaving him at my mum's place at nights... slowly changing my routine because I will be resuming work in early Jan.. it feels kinda of strange.. within 4.5 months... I have to adapt from working to staying at home.. delivering my bb.. caring for a newborn.. followed by getting used to going back to work.. That's alot of changes in a short period don't you agree?
Before I get too grumpy again.. here are some pictures taken in the past month or so... pls pardon the poor resolution as these are taken with the iphone.
That's all for now... bye!!
